Attendance

Regular and punctual attendance at school is both a legal requirement and essential for pupils to maximise their educational opportunities. In line with government directives, we expect students to attend school for at least 95% of the time. Regular attendance also means arriving on time for the start of the school day. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure their child gets to the school on time.

Absence Reporting

Please contact the school each day your child is absent.  If your child is absent from school you must notify the school by 8.00am with the reason using any of the following methods:

If we have not heard from you by 9am on the day of the absence, we are obliged to investigate the absence.

Medical Appointments
Medical appointments should be taken out of school time and only emergency appointments taken during the school day. Any appointments that have to be taken during the school day will require a note, appointment card or text to be shown to verify the appointment. Should your child have a medical appointment please contact the absence line.

Exceptional Circumstances

We recognise that exceptional circumstances take place. When this occurs, individual circumstances will be looked at and exceptional circumstances will be considered at the discretion of the Headteacher. Any applications for exceptional leave in term time will need to include an application in writing to the Headteacher, Mrs Foster, to explain the circumstances in taking your child out of school during term time. Please note, that no term time holidays will be authorised, and a fixed penalty notice may also be applied. Please click here for information for parents regarding absence during term time from Bedford Borough.
