Parents Evenings and Academic Mentoring
We are delighted to use School Cloud as our online booking system for Parents Evenings. Our academic Parents Evenings are hosted via online appointments and take place between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. The exception to this is our combined Year 9 Options Evening which takes place in person at the school.
Mark Rutherford offers two days per academic year when students and parent/carers can meet with their form tutor. Academic mentoring offers vital support for students, enhancing both academic performance and personal development. Form Tutors are central to the pastoral and academic wellbeing of their tutees. Academic Mentoring offers tailored guidance, helps students set learning goals and improve study habits. Through conversations about learning, Academic Mentoring fosters resilience, motivation, and a growth mindset—key traits for success at Key Stage Three, GCSEs, A-levels, and beyond.
For parents, mentoring offers reassurance and insight into their child’s progress. It bridges communication between home and school, helping parents understand curriculum demands and how best to support learning at home. Through Academic Mentoring, Form Tutors can identify early signs of academic or emotional struggles, enabling timely intervention and support.
On an Academic Mentoring Day, appointments are booked via School Cloud and take place during the school day. Parents and carers will receive information prior to Academic Mentoring regarding the process.
Information will be communicated nearer to the time of your child's Parent's Evening and Academic Mentoring days, but for your information dates for this academic year are as follows:
- Year 7: Tuesday 21st April 2026 (In-Person)
- Year 8: Tuesday 3rd March 2026 (Virtual)
- Year 9: Tuesday 20th January 2026 (Virtual)
- Year 9 Options Evening: Tuesday 27th January 2026 (In Person, no booking is required)
- Year 10: Tuesday 12th May 2026 (Virtual)
- Year 11: Tuesday 10th February 2026 (In-Person)
- Academic Mentoring Days: Friday 3rd October 2025 and Friday 3rd July 2026 (In-Person)
