Year 9 Work Shadow Days

Students will be spending two days with either a member of their family or a close family friend at their place of work. They will travel to work with them and shadow them at work to find out what they do, and if possible or appropriate, they will have a go at doing some aspects of their job.

This will give students experience of the workplace, prepare them for the world of work and give them the chance to explore career options. Students will also see the value of school and qualifications in the long run, they will be able to see what their parent or friend’s working day is like and what motivates them, and they will have the opportunity to see what careers and jobs are available.
