Work Experience

Work experience is most likely the first contact students will have with the world of work. It forms part of their career education and allows them to observe and learn without having to have the necessary skills and experience in the first place.

The government wants each student to have had 2 weeks of work experience by the time they finish Year 11.

At Mark Rutherford we have put in place days like Take your child to work day and work shadow days when students go to work with a family and are trialling a return to the traditional one week’s work experience for Year 10s. Year 12s also have a week’s work experience in July.
