School Menu
We are extremely fortunate to have our own canteen which is open for much of the day for our students and staff to use. Our Sixth Form students can also use this area during their study time and breaks. Please refer to our menus and price list below for full details of food options available throughout the day.
Our aim is to comply with the Department of Education's Food Standards expectations by providing well-balanced, healthy and appealing food using fresh and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Please refer to this link for details of the Food Standards School food standards practical guide - GOV.UK.
Breakfast is available from 7.45am until 8.20am. Our pupil premium students can enjoy toast, yoghurts or fruit free of charge each morning.
Breaktime is from 11.00am until 11.20am, offering a variety of cold and hot snacks, including sandwiches, rolls, croissants and fruit salad.
Lunch is served between 1.20pm until 2.00pm with a large selection of food items available. These consist of hot meals, hot and cold express options, sandwiches, baguettes, rolls, cakes, fresh fruit and a salad bar with jacket potatoes available daily. Our canteen is very popular with plenty of seating available, although students can also choose to take food outside to our picnic benches to enjoy with their friends.
Payment
Students will pay via the Vericool cashless catering system by using their biometic details or PIN – balances must be prepaid on the students' parentpay account. Students eligible for free school meals do also need an account set up for this to be managed.
Free School Meals
Bedford Borough Council manage the enrolment of our free school meals students. Please click here to access further information about eligibility and applying for free school meals via Bedford Borough.
A daily FSM allowance of £3 will be applied to eligible student accounts on vericool. Students can use this throughout the day on food purchases only. If students would like to purchase drinks or go above that allowance during the day then accounts must be topped up by parents/carers to cover this. Any unspent daily allowance is not carried forward to the following day.
Allergy Policy
From September 2026, it is a requirement for all schools to have an Allergy Policy in place. A school allergy policy ensures the safe management of students with allergies, covering prevention, emergency response, staff training and inclusive practices. Our new allergy policy will be available here prior to the new term commencing.
