Operation Encompass

We are proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding initiative that helps schools and educational settings provide timely support to children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between the police and education settings, ensuring that schools are informed when the police have attended a domestic abuse incident where a child is connected to the household.

This information is usually shared securely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) before the start of the next working school day, allowing us to – if appropriate offer care, understanding and support to any child or young person who may be affected.

At Mark Rutherford School we recognise that children who experience domestic abuse may be impacted emotionally, socially and academically. Through Operation Encompass, we can respond appropriately, quickly and sensitively to help children and young people feel safe, supported and able to engage in the school day.
