Literary Festivals

LitFest at Mark Rutherford School is a dynamic, week-long celebration of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, designed to inspire and empower students across all year groups. The festival brings together a rich and diverse mix of authors, poets, graphic novelists, and storytellers who work directly with students in engaging workshops, performances, and discussions. These experiences not only deepen students’ appreciation of literature but also build essential communication skills and confidence. A key focus of LitFest is the development of cultural capital—giving students access to voices, perspectives, and creative practices they may not encounter in everyday life. This exposure helps broaden horizons, raise aspirations, and support academic progress in all areas of our curriculum.
