Due to relocation an exciting opportunity has arisen at Mark Rutherford for a Head of Music.

We wish to appoint a dynamic, inspirational, well qualified Head of Music to lead and manage our vibrant Music Department both within the curriculum and through the extra-curricular programme offered to students at Mark Rutherford.

Site Supervisor

NJC Scale 3d Point 18-21
37 Hours per week, 52 weeks per year with 26 days annual leave.
Salary: £17,714 pa
This is a residential post

We are looking to appoint a practical, well-motivated person, with high standards and good attention to detail, to join our Site Team. The successful candidate must be resourceful, enthusiastic and reliable in their approach to supporting the school.

Duties will include:

  • Opening/closing of the site  (depending on shift pattern)
  • Security of premises
  • Heating, energy conservation & ventilation
  • Cleaning & hygiene
  • Maintenance of buildings
  • Porterage
  • Supervision of lettings and out of hours activities
  • Managing contractors and cleaning staff

Our school is open at weekends for lettings so you will be required to open and close the site.

Hours by arrangement with the Site Manager but you must be prepared to work unsociable hours, and weekends on a rota.  You will be covering the late shift 2.30pm – 10.30pm. Flexibility in hours to support the school will be an advantage.

School Direct Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

Are you interested in becoming a Science(Physics), Computer Science or Mathematics Teacher?

This exciting school based programme of Initial Teacher Education is available at Mark Rutherford from September 2015. We are working in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire and other local schools.

We have 3 training places to start in September 2015: Science (Physics), Computer Science and Mathematics. Candidates will need to pay a course fee of £9,000 but may be eligible for bursaries and loans, details available on the DfE website. Successful trainees will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE from our training provider, The University of Bedfordshire.

We welcome applicants who have:

  • UK residency
  • GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • A degree- preferably first class, upper or lower second in the subject you wish to train in (or a closely related subject)
