Due to a retirement we are seeking an inspirational, well qualified and highly effective English specialist to act as second in charge in the department and to lead on Key Stage 4. This is an important role for the school where the focus will be on working with the Head of English to develop teaching and learning and to introduce and embed changes and new specifications.
The successful candidate will be:

Examinations Invigilators

We are currently looking to recruit a pool of Exam Invigilators to form a team who will be responsible for supervising pupils sitting examinations throughout the school year.

The hours are flexible and would ideally be suited to a person living locally who is looking to work occasional hours to suit as and when required.  You should be available for a minimum of 3 days a week or 5 sessions per week, bearing in mind that you would need to arrive in school by 8.30am for morning exams.  Afternoon exams are usually timetabled for an approximate start time of 1pm and finish by 3.00pm. ‘A’ Level exams can run as late as 5.00pm.

School Direct Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

Are you interested in becoming a Science(Physics), Computer Science or Mathematics Teacher?

This exciting school based programme of Initial Teacher Education is available at Mark Rutherford from September 2015. We are working in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire and other local schools.

We have 3 training places to start in September 2015: Science (Physics), Computer Science and Mathematics. Candidates will need to pay a course fee of £9,000 but may be eligible for bursaries and loans, details available on the DfE website. Successful trainees will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE from our training provider, The University of Bedfordshire.

We welcome applicants who have:

  • UK residency
  • GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • A degree- preferably first class, upper or lower second in the subject you wish to train in (or a closely related subject)
