Leisure & Tourism at Mark Rutherford

(part of the Business Studies Department)

Leisure & Tourism is taught by is own specialist teacher at KS4 as a double GCSE Award and consists of 3 units:

• Unit 1; Investigating Leisure & Tourism
• Unit 2; Marketing
• Unit 3; Customer service

To complete the Double GCSE Students are also required to complete an exam and 7 written pieces of coursework including business reports and evaluations of chosen companies within the industry and be assessed in a range of role-play scenarios based within the real working environment.

To further the GCSE the school now offers Travel & Tourism at an A-Level and drives the subject specifically down the tourism route, which is currently the fastest growing industry in the world. This A-Level takes the students to a level whereby they can either enter employment at a junior management level or continue onto a degree level course.
